Quality and durability

With high-quality stainless steel flatware

Stainless steel flatware stands for robustness and durability. A high-quality alloy such as 18/10 chrome-nickel steel is a hallmark of first-class flatware. The chrome content in the stainless steel makes the flatware rustproof, while nickel contributes to the acid resistance and enhances the shine. This material makes a stainless steel flatware set easy to care for without being affected by everyday challenges such as aggressive cleaning agents or scratches. Stainless steel is therefore the ideal choice for high-quality flatware whether for everyday use or special occasions.

Modern stainless steel flatware

Versatile designs and functions

Choosing the ideal stainless steel flatware set at Villeroy & Boch is not just about the number of pieces, but also of style and the desired color.

A standard stainless steel flatware set for six people usually contains 24 pieces - six knives, six dinner spoons, six forks and six coffee spoons. If you opt for a 30-piece set, there are also six cake or dessert forks, for a sweet finish to a perfect meal

.

Ergonomically designed, even for left-handed users, the flatware pieces are pleasant and comfortable to hold. Their gently curved shapes feel supple and smooth, a sign of the commitment of Villeroy & Boch to invest in both design and comfort.
Expand your dining repertoire with a selection of practical flatware accessories. Whether elegant salad servers, special dessert or fish flatware or extra sharp steak knives, each stainless steel piece is carefully crafted to add the finishing touch to your culinary creations.

Basic rules for cleaning

Stainless steel flatware from Villeroy & Boch is generally dishwasher-safe. However, when cleaning stainless steel flatware by hand, it is important to use mild detergents and soft cloths. Avoid abrasive cleaners or hard sponges, as these can scratch the surface over time. After cleaning, the flatware should be dried immediately to prevent water stains.

Avoiding and removing a film of rust

Rust film is a common phenomenon that can occur even on high-quality stainless steel flatware, even though it does not rust in itself. The cause of rust film often lies in the wash cycle itself.

During this process, rust particles can come loose from non-stainless items, such as the screws in lids or exposed parts of the dishwasher basket, and transfer to the stainless steel flatware. Especially in the humid environment of a dishwasher, the iron dust can oxidize and settle on your flatware in the form of brownish stains - this is rust film.

Polishing stainless steel flatware

To give your shiny stainless steel flatware a radiant silhouette, start with gentle cleaning, ideally with a soft microfiber cloth and special stainless steel polish. After this initial care, bring the shine to perfection with a cotton cloth and gentle movements along the length. Please note that with daily use and regular cleaning in the dishwasher, a matt film may form on the flatware. This can be removed by regular polishing and will restore the original shine of your flatware.

Please note that, in order to preserve the surface, you should not polish matt flatware.

Hollow-handle vs. monoblock

Cutting through the differences

The choice between hollow-handled and monoblock knives is more than just about design - it's about quality, workmanship and cutting performance. Hollow-handled knives are made of a forged blade and a two-part handle.

The blade, made from high-quality blade steel, guarantees long-lasting sharpness, excellent cutting ability and robust stability. These knives are designed for the most intensive requirements and are easy to care for.

Monobloc knives, on the other hand, are stamped from a single piece of steel, with a handle and blade made from the same material. They are cheaper to manufacture, but do not offer quite the same cutting performance and balance as hollow-handled knives.

Stainless steel flatware sets

The perfect selection for every occasion

Modern stainless steel flatware designs from Villeroy & Boch are a tribute to versatility and elegance, enhancing any table visually and functionally. Each piece is designed to enhance the style of your dinnerware - whether through avant-garde, clean shapes for a minimalist look, or broader shapes that perfectly complement large plates and robust tableware. The longevity of the flatware is ensured by using the highest quality steel alloys, making it particularly durable and easy to clean. Even after frequent use, the surface remains shiny and inviting. The flatware is also reliably dishwasher-safe, which simplifies care. Different finishing processes, such as plating with fine layers of silver or gold, give the individual collections an exclusive character, and make them eye-catching on any table.
